Monsanto is a small "hill village" in central Portugal - just south of Serra da Estrela... The village is built around large boulders - litterally - they often form part of a house wall... The approaches to the village (and the castle) are steep and winding (and cobbled) - no place for cars, nor people in a rush (or suffering from a weak constitution)....
